I have to say that I have enjoyed it so far. Only had it a few weeks, but it performs well and meets my needs.

The main computer is fine. My biggest complaint is when I type the curser ends up moving by itself and changes the word. I can't seem to figure out why this happens. I'll just be typing and I see that the word is being misspelled.

I have been using Dell laptops equipped with Windows 7 for many years with no problems.The new Windows 8 requires that you create an account with Microsoft or you will not be able to access your e mail account.Windows 8 also no longer supports multiple windows.This single window strategy is a disaster when doing Christmas shopping, or just looking for bargains online, since you wont be able to view several windows simultaneously and will therefore have to memorize what you have seen, as you go from one window to the next, instead of simply glancing at one that's already open, as you did with Windows 7.

The new design of the user interface with big colorful tiles, works well on tablets, but on a PC a tablet oriented start screen and a PC oriented desktop screen combined together spells trouble.1) Users have to remember where to go for which features, 2)When running web browsers in both device areas, you will only see (and be reminded of) a subset of your open web pages at any given time, 3)Switching between environments increases the interaction cost of using multiple features, and 4) the two environments work differently, making your experience inconsistent.5)If your e mail address gets hijacked by hackers, you will not be able to use this computer unless you can guess their new password.

In summary: The hidden features, reduced discoverability, cognitive overhead from dual environments, and reduced power from a single- window user interface, and low information density when trying to read something on the internet, make Windows 8 a complete lemon.Amazon.com still has some excellent Windows 7 Dell laptops, or the new Google Chromebook for $250 which would be an excellent alternative.
